Hunger scene sets new world record!

According to the Belfast Telegraph, the 17 1/5 minute scene with Michael and Liam has made it the longest one shot scene in theatrical history in the Guinness Book of World Records. I knew this pivotal moment was unique and brilliant, but I did not think about it breaking a record. Excellent!

In the article, it states - Two Irish actors have told how they made history in a record breaking scene in a new film about IRA hunger striker Bobby Sands, which premieres in Belfast tonight.
The scene involving Michael Fassbender and Liam Cunningham in the movie Hunger is the longest single shot on filmBy Lesley-Anne Henry Michael Fassbender (31) and Liam Cunningham (47) star in the marathon 17-and-a-half-minute shot in Hunger.

The scene is set in the Maze prison meeting room, in 1981, just hours before the 66-day fast that would ultimately kill Sands, played by Fassbender. It features dialogue and ideological debate between the movie's central protagonist, the IRA hunger striker and Belfast priest, Father Moran (Liam Cunningham), with both actors sitting opposite each other, separated by a prison table. According to the Guinness Book of Records the previous record holder for a single shot on film (rather than video), was an eight-minute scene in The Player.

If you go to the link and read the full article, Hunger debuts tonight in Belfast and will go into wider release later in the month. I'm sure this film in Ireland will be received with a wide variety of opinions and criticism, but it's my hopes that people take something positive out of it and recognize the brilliant film that it is.

On a fun and personal note, my friend Laurie will be coming by my apartment tonight for an evening of conversion. You see, she will watch '300' with me and together we will salivate and giggle over the ostentatious display of manflesh, and Laurie will come to appreciate The Talented Mr. Fassbender, oh yes she will!

Another fun thing I forgot to mention, and I think the MFO girls who attended the TIFF Hunger screening with me will acknowledge. In the Cannes group photo above, the pretty sparkly blue metro sexual belt that Michael is wearing, is the same one he wore at TIFF. I reckon he fancies that and I do too! But does anyone know what the 'H' stands for? Could it be for 'Hunger', or 'Hunk'? Grrrrrrrrr. I think it stands for Hunk.
