Michael won Best Actor BIFA

Yes!!! The British Independent Film Awards recognize Michael Fassbender as Best Actor, and Steve McQueen as Best Debut Director, along with Sean Bobbitt for Hunger!!!

THE DOUGLAS HICKOX AWARD [BEST DEBUT DIRECTOR]
Steve McQueen - Hunger

BEST ACTOR
Michael Fassbender - Hunger

BEST TECHNICAL ACHIEVEMENTSponsored by Skillset
Cinematography - Sean Bobbitt - Hunger

Slumdog Millionaire, a film I have yet to see, and I am indifferent about, has won Best Picture. When you compare this happy, happy, joy, joy boy-loves-girl, rags to riches story, to the pains and horrors and death of 'Hunger'... duh, it doesn't take a rocket scientist to predict the winner. [rolleyes]

Congratulations Michael, Steve and Sean! BTW, Steve attended the BIFAs, but not Michael. I believe he's still in Germany filming 'Basterds' as he will be off filming to go to LA at the end of the week for the Nuart Theater premiere.

Update: Apparently Michael Fassbender did attend the BIFAs last night. At MFO, a fan posted a fan video of some lucky fans who stood outside getting autographs and Michael was there and graciously signed many autographs. I'm so glad he went. And since he was in London, I hope he made a pit stop at his agency to pick up a Christmas package from the US. ;-)
