The downside of being a mere co-star

I was looking through the May issue of Vanity Fair which features an article about 'Inglorious Basterds', sadly, there was not one inch of space or a word mentioning Michael Fassbender, but if you're a Brad Pitt fan, which I am to a much lesser degree, you got a healthy dose of information and glorious images of him, the STAR of IG. *Yawn*

In the back of my mind I was a little nervous about how such a big star like Brad Pitt would overshadow the devotion of Michael's contributions to this project, and surely by now, we Fassbender fans would have received plenty of news about his filming of IG and visible documentation. But it has been the polar opposite. I have seen constant mentioning about the other lesser known co-stars, guys and girls I have never heard of before. But you'd think there was a blacklist in mentioning Michael! Um, he's going to be the primary reason why I will go to the theater to see 'Basterds'. I typically wait for Quentin Tarantino films to go on DVD, I don't go see his films in the theater, I enjoy all his stuff, but I rather rent/buy the DVD. But only because Michael is in his next movie, I'm going to gladly drop $10 to go see it at the nearest theater, and maybe I'll do it more than once if I like it.

So I just think it's damn rude to not have any publicity about Michael in chronicalizing his participation in his Tarantino film. Hollywood needs to get a serious clue about true rising stars and keeping a closer eye on them for not only to provide more much needed diversity in their celebrity news coverage, but to also be a source of valuable information for said celebrity's fanbase.

In any event, now that my Monday morning bitching is complete, here's a new poll asking you which celebrity you'd like to see Michael work with next. As you can see, the actors listed are spread out over a wide range of the A/B-list spectrum, and based on seeing how Michael has been treated by the media in the preliminary Inglorious Basterds PR, it would be interesting to see whom you all would like to see Michael work with next. I'm personally voting for James Franco for several scandalous reasons. LOL! Also, I'm going to use PollDaddy polls from now on because I don't like the set up of the blogger polls, they're bland as hell.

I'm glad someone else noticed the distinct lack of Michael, I thought maybe I was just looking in the wrong places. I have a bad feeling that this will continue, since it is turning out to be the Brad Pitt show. Not that I don't like him; I do. I just like Michael more. ;)

I have been excited about Michael's role in IG because I anticipated that the publicity from Pitt and Tarantino would shine a little spotlight upon Michael. But the complete opposite has happened and I must say that I'm more than irked. Without Michael associated in this film, it would totally be a DVD rental for me, 6 months after its been on DVD, ok? So for "them" to ignore Fassbender is just perplexing to me.

I doubt this is being initiated by him as he has demonstrated his comfort and professionalism in doing promos and interviews for his movies - Hunger is a primary example. And speaking of that, especially since Michael was such a hot topic from November to February in regards to Hunger, one would think that the residue of the interest in him would continue on with the filming of IG. Nope.

Also, the same shit is continuing on with the Centurion filming. I haven't see jack about him in this and if it weren't for that audio tape interview of him from last week mentioning his next project for Jonah Hex, I would have thought the boy fell off the face of the earth. But alas he's alive and well... just doing a damn good job in hiding.

Thanks for your comments and please consider joining the Fassinating Follower brigade. :)

I haven't seen anything about him in Centurion either. And he's the main character in that isn't he? I mean I haven't seen him in the behind the scenes or nothing.

Have all the trailers been released for Inglorious Basterds? They still have to do Cannes right? Maybe then... *crosses fingers*

I love your blog. I've followed it silently for a while.

Nope, not a dang thing on Centurion either, but I'm still hopeful on that.

I'm sure more trailers on Basterds will be released and maybe, just maybe they'll remember that Michael is in it and show him for a few seconds.

IG will premiere at Cannes in May and it would be wonderful if Michael is there, but filming for Johan Hex may be a conflict for him. And with Hex being filmed in the states, maybe we'll see/hear more about him then.

I'm glad you like the blog, thanks for de-lurking to share your comments, we need more commenters. :)

Brad Pitt inevitably gets a lot of coverage - if you are a promoter I guess you would bank on Pitt being the cash cow in a movie.... however, thats no excuse for not mentioning other co stars - i would of thought by now MF was sufficiently established for the PR teams to use his name as another marketing tool...
re Poll daddy - I would love to see MF in a film with McAvoy :)

James and Michael ... that would be one hot movie!

Brad Pitt is pretty dang bankable, but you're right, it's no excuse for the lack of seeing the co-stars. I'd like to see a pic or two of Mike Myers, as well, even if his part is small.

So, you wanna see Mike Myers? Well, here you go - Another IG clip Without Michael!.

:-(

*sigh*

And Michael too! Especially, Michael...
Now, I feel bad...
*facepalm*

LOL! I didn't mean to make you feel guilty, I know you want to see Michael desperately. It just thought the timing was funny because until know, I haven't seen Mike Myers until this clip which still doesn't show Michael Fassbender.

I'm beginning to suspect somethin'. Maybe they think Michael is going to steal the spotlight and is keeping him on the downlow.

;)

*Nods* I'll go with that. Saving the best for last. Don't want Michael to steal the show and all that.
