Michael's Cannes Adventures

{23 March 2010 - This blog entry has been edited to remove the name and image of a person who is of no interest to FF}Yesterday was a fun Michael Fassbender day. I felt like I was on holiday as I didn’t do a damn thing here at work. Literally, I just came to my job, spread various documents all over my desk, and had a phony spreadsheet document up on my computer screen to give the completely false impression that I was “working”, all whilst I was surfing the net looking for Cannes stuff to update FF with. I don’t care; I work hard at my job otherwise, so it was a well deserved break from the monotony of where I work. I am anticipating today to be calm in Fassyland, so I reckon this may be the only blog entry for the day. I will also try to update over the weekend too in case I find new images or cool Fassy info about his time in Cannes up until the Inglourious Basterds premiere next Wednesday evening.

Ok, no, I have something else to snark about. Why in the hell is Michael no longer attached to the 'Wuthering Heights' production? I knew it was being pushed back until a new director was found, but in this time, it appears that Michael has withdrawn from the film due to the delays, and now just yesterday, it was announced that Ed Westwick will play Heathcliff and Gemma Artherton will portray Cathy? WTF? Well, all I know is that I will not be watching this. Ed? He looks like a drunk 13 year-old boy. This is totally going to be a straight to DVD BBC production.

Lastly, I just wanted to say that based on all the great reviews of Fish Tank yesterday from Cannes, I am extremely excited in seeing this film and I hope it screens at TIFF in September. One thing that I find unfortunate is that the breakout star of Fish Tank, Katie Jarvis just could not be in Cannes as she gave birth to a daughter this past weekend. Normally this would be understandable and pause for congratulations, but Katie is just 17, and as per one review about her performance, the critic said that she has a future in film based on this outstanding and realistic acting. But what kind of future does she really have if Katie did not realize the career opportunity she was given in this film but instead, took her life in a drastically different direction that may prevent her from continuing in the acting arena. I’m not saying that it’s impossible, but had she been at Cannes, been there to be seen, and interviewed, The Powers That Be could have offered her a different life had they been able to meet her face to face at Cannes. Subsequently, a trump card in her favor could be in the form of winning the Best Actress Award at Cannes. She was that good in Fish Tank. Also, Michael’s performance is being lauded too, so it would be a brilliant double whammy if both Michael and Katie won the acting honors in Fish Tank. The winners will be announced at the end of the festival on May 21st.

well would you adam and eve it.... another Model / actress who seems to like attending premieres as a hobby.... that seems a mighty similar pattern to other movie players..

is it part of the rules of being in the film industry or something!

A handsome young actor simply cannot attend a red carpet event single unless he wants to invite gossip. The Hollywood Handbook strongly believes that the more ravishing a female date is, the more believable she is as the man's date/gf/SO.

Please.

"Director Quentin Tarantino may have to do some peace-making now that his producer, Lawrence Bender, has been feuding with one of the stars of their movie, “Inglourious Basterds.”

Back when Tarantino was shooting the World War II epic in Germany, Bender invited ex-girlfriend Leasi Andrews to come visit with their 2-year-old daughter. “Leasi and Lawrence were broken up at the time,” says a friend.

But Bender is said to have disapproved when gorgeous Leasi, who has dated Leo DiCaprio and Terrence Howard, started seeing one of Tarantino’s stars, Michael Fassbender.

“I don’t know whether Lawrence is carrying a torch for Leasi or what,” says the friend, “but when he got back to Hollywood, he started dissing Michael to people around town.”

We won’t repeat what Bender supposedly said, but a source says Fassbender and his agent, Michael Cooper, discussed suing Bender for slander. Cooper acknowledges some “initial awkwardness” between the men, but he insists there was no talk of legal action. “There’s nothing but respect between Michael and Lawrence,” Cooper tells us.

Bender and Fassbender both plan to promote “Inglourious Basterds” at the Cannes Film Festival. Let’s see if Andrews comes with"...

Hi again, our dear friends…
Black Penned Writer, We're glad that the article that we’ve read in Daily News was curious… It’s just a PR, may be… :)
Simone, we’re so sorry that we began to discuss Michael’s private life… But we thought that the question “Who the heck is Leasi Andrews and how much she enjoys movie premieres?” raise issue already :) A fortiori, they’re together since February… In our Michael’s photos archive there are two shots showing that all is not so “light”… We’re very sorry…
Thank you, Simone, we’ve always read all your posts :)

Hi Elena and Olga, please don't worry, you did nothing wrong. I appreciate you posting that PR article here but I just wanted to request that any future commentary on this very subject be restricted to just this blog entry as I don't want various blog entries having repeat information about this 'PR piece'. OK? ;)

Thanks! ♥

Have you heard about her requesting a restraining order against him? http://www.starpulse.com/news/index.php/2010/03/23/michael_fassbenders_ex_requests_restra
Though, from what I've read about her past relationships it doesn't seem to be her first restraining order against an ex. I'm really hoping that Mike isn't the headcase she makes him out to be, that'd be rather disappointing.
