TIFF News!!!

Here is the information about Fish Tank at the Toronto Int'l Film Festival.

Fish Tank
Andrea Arnold SCOTIABANK THEATRE 2 United Kingdom (124 minutes)

My friend in Toronto called me just before noon and told me that Fish Tank will be playing on Friday, September 11th at 9pm. And as per the tiff website, which is not so user friendly when people, especially newbies, are looking for precise information - Fish Tank will be playing at the Scotiabank theater, the same theater I saw Hunger at last year - practically the theater I always go to when I go to Toronto for stuff besides tiff. I love it there.

Also, at 11:59pm, will be the midnightmadness horror programme featuring Daybreakers, a vampire movie I so dearly want to see. However, with my driving to Toronto Friday morning and arriving there about noon time, and getting all set up for Fish Tank, I think my circuit breakers will have worn down by the time Fish Tank ends, and I would at least like to socialize with some of the MFO fassy fans afterwards.

Fish Tank will have a repeat showing the next day at 12:30 at the WinterGarden Theater. It's the posh little cinema above the Elgin Theater.

Antichrist
Lars von Trier SCOTIABANK THEATRE 2 Denmark/Germany/France/Sweden/Italy/Poland (104 minutes)

Then fresh thing on Saturday morning 9/12 will be the traumatizing Antichrist at 9frigginAM. That ain't right! How in the hellz can such a film be shown at that time? But alas, I reckon I'll be in form to see it, so I'm marking that down too.

The Vintner's Luck
Niki Caro WINTER GARDEN THEATRE New Zealand/France (126 minutes)

I'm glad that I will be able to see The Vintner's Luck on Saturday 9/12 afternoon. I was worried that the few films I wanted to see in the very limited time I have available would leave me concerned. But the timing seems to be spread out very well and I may even be able to squeeze in a few more screenings.

A Serious Man
Joel Coen, Ethan Coen VISA SCREENING ROOM (ELGIN) USA (105 minutes)

Squeezing in another movie for Saturday night. The Coen Brothers never let me down!

Daybreakers
Michael Spierig, Peter Spierig SCOTIABANK THEATRE 2 Australia/USA (98 minutes)

Oh excellent! As I'm typing all this, I'm going down the film queue of Sept 11-13 and I see that Daybreakers is screening again on Sunday, 9/12 at 12:30pm. Perfect! I'm gonna get my vampire thing on afterall!

The Road
John Hillcoat RYERSON USA (119 minutes)

And last but not least, The Road at 5:30 on Sunday.

Capitalism: A Love Story
Michael Moore VISA SCREENING ROOM (ELGIN) USA (105 minutes)

Oh, and one more!!!! Another Michael Moore documentary!!

So there you have it, my seven must see films. I'm quite excited and relieved as I thought the scheduling would have me at Toronto during the weekday.

If you're going, please let me know. If you want to keep your plans on the down low, just email me as I would love to meet any of my readers at tiff.

Hey Simone, I'm glad the schedule worked out so well. I'd love to go to TIFF for Fish Tank and the Road, but I can't afford it this year. I hope you have lots of fun at the movies and meeting up with other fasscinators =)

Hi Christina. Sorry to hear you can't make it this year. I'm going because I can drive there, I can't imagine the flight from San Francisco to Toronto these days.

I'll be sure to provide as detailed a report about all my tiff adventures, not just about Fish Tank.

Thanks! xoxo

Yeah, flights are expensive; and it doesn't help that I've already gone on vacation once this summer.

I'll be looking forward to your reports =)
