Michael to work with Ridley Scott?

About two months ago, it was first reported that Ridley Scott was in talks with Michael Fassbender for a role as an android in a pre-quel to his successful Alien series. At the time, Noomi Rapace was originally mentioned to be the female lead, but rumors speculated that 20th Century Fox studio heads voiced concerns about no one not really knowing who Rapace was, and Michael is still on the gentle rise of being a mega-star here in the States, but he's just not there yet. So, they wanted an A-list female star, someone like, oh, Charlize Theron to carry the film. Then the next thing I heard, the project was DOA.

Now today, Variety reports that Scott is going forward with a sci-fi film titled, 'Prometheus', which is in the same genre of Alien, but a different plot. At this stage, it's all negotiations, but I reckon it's pretty much a done deal since they are shooting for a release date of June 8, 2012.

I'm very excited about this because I just love sci-fi movies that deal with space travel and aliens. And Noomi is an actress to watch because she was excellent in 'The Girl with the Dragon Tattoo' film and the other two films. I also think it's great that two European actors who are rising stars are getting the chance to work with each other and carry a big budget film directed by yet another one of my favorite directors.

Right now, Michael is working on 'Shame' with Steve McQueen and the next film to be released by him will be Jane Eyre in March. He has a very busy year ahead for him!
