London Critics' Circle Awards Nominations

The 32nd London Critics' Circle announced this years nominations and Shame has received 4 noms (British Film of the Year, Best Actor, British Actor of the Year (Michael for 'Method' & 'Shame'), British Actress of the Year. The awards will be given out on January 19th!

Michael has tough competition in both categories that he has been nominated in. He's going to win one of them, and it would be double awesome if he took home both, but in all fairness, Gary Oldman would totally deserve to win one of them for himself.

To read the entire announcement and to review all the nominees, go to Critics' Circle.

I’m really delighted that Michael got nominated for Actor of the Year for Shame from the London Critics Circle, but I am questioning how both he and Brendan Gleeson got nominations for BRITISH Actor of the Year? Both are from the Republic of Ireland, so they are Irish and not British. As Michael is nominated in both categories, 'Actor' and 'British Actor', let's hope he wins for the former!

@anon, although Michael is Irish/German, the British media/film industry are pleased to consider all UK citizens who are actors, as 'British'. One big happy family. This question has been brought up before when he was nominated for Hunger by this group. They offered a sound explanation as to why, and it made sense. It's still an honor in the end.

Thanks for explaining that Simone. I’m happy that Michael is nominated in both categories!

I watched 'Eden Lake' recently for the first time, partly because it features local actor Thomas Turgoose, I was so impressed I checked out 'Hunger' and 'Fish tank' Mr Fassbender is one damn fine actor, if he wins awards or not, on the evidence I have seen, if he's in it, the film is worth watching, I will certainly be looking out for him in the future.

Another one for Michael! I'm so proud of him, just being nominated is a great honor. BUT... he needs to win BOTH!
