Michael won BEST ACTOR at LAFCA

Finally! this Sunday afternoon, the Los Angeles Film Critic's Association became the first American organization to announce Michael Fassbender as the Best Actor for Shame, for 2011, for all four of his feature films this year! This is a brilliant, top honor for Michael as the LAFCA award is of the top of the heap along with the previous two events that failed to recognize Michael's work.

Michael needed this win to keep his name relevant in the game, and I just learned that 95% of Best Actor winners of this award go on to be nominated for an Oscar! He needed this, we needed this! Congratulations Michael!

Congrats Michael!

Yes, it's a very important win. At this moment I have no doubt that he will be nominated for Oscar. Now, if he could also win BFCA and Chicago critics awards + plus a few minor (he already is nominated for Houston critics awards) then it not only would solidify his chances for nom, but actually give him a chance to maybe even win.

Yeah, I know, it's a long way, let's focus on that nom now :D

I read in a news article talking about important performances this year that he's a shoe in for an Oscar nom at this point. They doubted his actually winning it, but, if Michael continues with his amazing track record, then whatever he wins it for in the future will be very well deserved.

I'm squealing with excitement. This is very good news, very good indeed. How long do we have to wait until Oscar noms are announced? I don't think I have the patience! Congrats to Michael. A well-earned win. I wish Steve was getting more recognition though too...you can't have a film without a writer and director.

It looks like all of these stars & hard-won recognition are aligning for Michael. These are exciting times, friends! (I have to admit that my loyalties are split between him or Gary Oldman receiving the Best Actor Oscar nom--both quality! The Guardian newspaper mentions this too! http://bit.ly/uc0obL)

This was the best birthday news I could ever get - YES! Way to go & so deserved for all the hard work and willingness and guts to take on roles like Shame. Fingers crossed for both Michael and Steve MacQueen to get Oscar noms.

xo & have a ball in London!
