Michael will be on the Late Show with David Letterman!

Wow, what an amazing development! Just recently I whined about how no American late night talk show has invited Michael Fassbender as a guest on their show. And voila! Announced today, literally, the King of Late night TV, David Letterman of the Late Show, will have Michael on as a guest on Wednesday, January 18th! I don't watch TV, so I will have to watch it on Hulu.com or from CBS online, or Youtube. Either way, I'm very excited about this appearance.

David can have good interviews, he soft balls a lot, but there are a lot of laughs to be had and since Michael will be there to discuss Shame, I'm sure David will have an easy time trying to embarrass Michael in a funny way.

Watch the show and come back here to share your thoughts on Michael's first American TV show appearance! If you're in the New York City area, try to get tickets to the show, or hang out by the side entrance to try to see Fassy! I miss living in New York so much because I used to walk pass the Ed Sullivan theater almost everyday, but I never went to a taping of a show or stood around for autographs.

Whoa! This is amazing news! It'll be great to get Michael under a big spotlight, get the public to pay attention to him! How did this happen?

It was just announced today, and as per the link, Jan 18th has an asterik next to it noting a new change in the lineup schedule. I'm sure Michael's PR/Mgmt is working every angle to get him noticed. He's in NY because of the NBR last night, and his appearance now is very important.

I'm just glad it's happening finally! If AMPAS members are going to vote for him, they need to know who this kid is beyond reading edited written interviews. They need to see him live and in action interviewing with Letterman. And if Michael wins the Best Actor at Golden Globes just days before...

Perfect!

I hope that Michael strikes up the same sort of awkward friendship with respect with Letterman that Letterman shares with Viggo. Just watch how chummy they get over the course of their interviews over the years, it would just be great to see him on a lot, and Letterman is my favorite of the Late-Night shows.

Simone, the AMPAS voting ballots are due back tomorrow.
So sadly, anything that happens after the 13th dosent have an impact on the AMPAS voting, including the BAFTA votes.

Sorry if i sound pessimistic, but that's the way it is.

@dshultz, although I don't watch TV, I have seen many Letterman interviews and I like his style the best over everyone else. David does have a fun report with Viggo and if Michael is to be a regular on his show in the future, it would be nice to see a similar camaraderie.

@Iris, yes, although the AMPAS nomination voting will be due this week, an appearance on this show this month is still a great time. I know he will be nominated for the Oscar... but to WIN it, a whole new ball game of promotion has to go to a new level. Expect another appearance possibly on Jay Leno (who is LA based) later this month or in February.

This Letterman performance should have happened a few weeks ago, IMO. But better late than never. And Iris, Youtube will have the interview up quickly, I'll make sure to post it here!

Hi, Simone. What do you think of Michael's not attending Critics Choice Awards? Lots of fans on tumblr are curious and a bit worried about this situation. Someone allegedly working in a screener dist. company even seems to start a rumor again about Fox Searchlight not really supporting Shame in awards race and Shame team&McQueen being pissed off. (Something that we've heard before. Personally, I don't really buy it. McQueen cares that much about awards?) Anyway, I thought it would be nice of him to show up at the ceremony because critics had shown their appreciation of his great performance in Shame by giving Michael several critics awards wins. Well, there must have been a proper reason that he miss the occasion for. I just want to know your opinion.

p.s I always appreciate your great work and efforts in this worderful blog. Especially, I love to read your insightful wrightings.

Oops~what an embarrassing misspelling...writings, not wrightings and I can't fix it LOL.
