Vanity Fassy

VanityFassy.com
Have you bought the current Hollywood issue of Vanity Fair? Michael is featured in the section on Oscar contenders, and boy, were they wrong. Silly people. They let all those precursor critical and award wins and nominations fool them into believing that an American organization that is 94% white, 77% male, with a median age of 62, would give Michael Fassbender's bold performance in Shame, the time of day for a nomination. Tsk tsk tsk! Michael is a man, not a fuckable woman, people! I'm glad Steve McQueen spoke up in defense of Michael and dismissed AMPAS' politics. I was curious as to his thoughts, and he didn't hold back.

Well, the Oscars are this Sunday and I ain't gonna watch it. And you know what, I feel good about my maturing during this saga... my thoughts have significantly and permanently been changed about the Oscars, and I ironically thank them for it. I haven't been to Gold Derby or Awards Daily since nomination day... I just distanced myself from all the Oscar talk to focus on my life and school studies, Fassinating Fassbender, and the little project we have going on right now. I'm not going to diss the Oscars again, but what I want to do is encourage those of you who feel as strongly as I do about the situation, to do something else Sunday night instead of watching the show.

Watch a Michael Fassbender movie, preferably, Shame, if you are able to. If not, watch any of his 2011 films, and movies prior to that year. Just make it a Fassy Movie day! If you want to explore other films that were not nominated, that would be an excellent thing to do as well. I especially encourage you to check out Drive, starring another hot, talented young man, Ryan Gosling, which along with Martha Marcy May Marlene were my number 3 and 4 films, respectively, that I liked from TIFF (The Artist and Shame were the top two). I desperately want to see Tilda Swinton in 'We Need to Talk About Kevin'. Really, there are dozens upon dozens of films that are so wonderful that have not been nominated for Oscars that deserve our attention. Do some research on your own and find your own entertainment gem to watch on Sunday, instead of the show.

I don't know what Michael will be doing this weekend, but I'm 99.95% sure he has more important things to do than be a part of any Oscar parties and events. He has pre-production work to do on at least two high profile films that will be monopolizing his time this spring and summer. Now more than ever, I'm proud to be a Michael Fassbender fan!

Forgot to add this article link from today's Chicago Tribune: Is Michael Fassbender too Sexy for Oscar?

I'm not going to watch the ceremony but wants to see people on the red carpet, and the knife may appear in August when Michael is in LA

I agree with you that missed a lot of interesting films not only Shame, for example 50/50, I'm surprised that they do not nominate Leo and Joseph Gordon-Levitt.

Agree with you, Simone, Michael has more important things to deal with! As far as I am concerned, I'm waiting for the release of Blood Creek on dvd in France (March, 1st). I hope all the French fans have already bought the February issue of "Positif" (some interesting pages about Michael's work).

No way I'm watching the Oscars, same old crap. The breakdown on the age/gender/race of the members is quite disturbing! That explains it all.

I shall watch 'Shame' & Take Shelter again, this weekend.

Simone said...

I just made Take Shelter my #1 movie at netflix, it was down in the 70s, yikes. I also added J Edgar, and Drive. A lot of the British movies aren't available yet.

I'm glad to see you guys already have plans. If you have a netflix account, a LOT of Michael's movies are streaming, so I will be watching a few of them on Sunday.

BTW, just for clarification, when I wrote 'fuckable female', I wrote that in reference to reading a tweet comment from earlier this week. Someone said that the reason why actress Glenn Close, who has been nominated six times (including this year for Albert Nobbs - which I saw at TIFF) but never won, is because she's not fuckable in the eyes of the academy.

Well, with the demographics being revealed this week, that snide comment sadly aligns with what we know about AMPAS.

And makes Rooney Mara's nomination make so much more sense.

Simone said...

^ And more frustrating. :/

If only Michael had a pair of perfect breasts.

Tonight we have Les César in France. More than 10 nominations for The Artist. None of the 2011 movies starring michael is nominated for the "meilleur film étranger" ( Drive is nominated). Les César are as courageous as The Oscars!

Ales said...

This is very strange and annoying after time because we all saw what a Shame you are surprised that he is not nominated in any category not to mention other films. You can see the critics are afraid of films straight from life, contrary to the public.

Just out of curiosity: what the race of Academy members has to do with lack of nomination for Michael? Do you seriously think that if there were more black members he would have bigger chance? Rather doubtful, isn't it?

I'm not saying that those demographics aren't disturbing, but saying that Michael wasn't nominated because AMPAS is mainly white is a huge stretch.

Simone said...

Relax. Don't make this a race issue because I'm not. I bolded the gender and age for a reason as that's my emphasis.

I'm just posting the same information that every other website has. Those are the demographics, like it or not.

I'm really tired of the speculations as to why michael wasn't nominated, whether they're too scared of ruining they're image or too stuck-up to recognize real talent even when it hits them in the face. Either way, they're a bunch of fucking idiots and that's that. (Rooney Mara?...i mean seriously!!?)

Dionne said...

@ Anon 4:49 get off of it.
No one said anything about more black voters making a difference. A lack of diversity makes a difference in any situation. More women and younger people could certainly make a difference. Just a fact.
Why would you just assume that someone's making an inference that there should be more black voters, and not another minority such as Asians, Latino's, Indians, etc.
You're the one assuming, and stretching. Chill

Michael is too sexy for the Oscars. That, and his penis being too big, , and his just being to good for them all around. What a bunch of cunts.

Ales said...

Let's change the topic because I have had enough of the Oscars

What in the end of this interview?

Manuela said...

im going to ignore ceremony. just crossed fingers for Gary -i wish i wish i wish. and yes our boy is too much for americans. we have to celebrate new great fassys projects)

Simone said...

FYI, Michael is home in Hackney this weekend.

Anonymous said...

Good for him. He's politically savvy, but he's not a masochist, either.

Dionne said...

I'm glad he's back in Hackney, good for him.

Anonymous said...

I am glad he is home, someone needs to water the plants. :)))

anon 1-40. interesting is it true? Nicole is very sexy but i dont believe.

Anonymous said...

It's likely true. Here's an entirely different person who say him at Broadway Market: https://twitter.com/#!/paulmel1/status/173423773100417026

Anonymous said...

I can't get that tumblr link to work. What does it say?

Manuela said...

anon - i know i ve read it. just cant get why one person said about Nicole and nothing about it from other) or i need stop watching Sherlock))))

Anonymous said...

Manuela: I'm honestly surprised one person recognized her. She's not exactly a big name. So, either it was a film aficionado or someone trying to start a rumor.

Anonymous said...

Anon who can't read the Tumblr link: it's a screen shot of a tweet from someone saying they saw Michael with Nicole Behare at Broadway Market in Hackney.

Manuela said...

anon - yes agree totally. seems somekind of rumour or somebody wants them together desperatly. anyway something weird

Anonymous said...

If they are together (or even just friends with a sexual component to their relationship) then I would be happy for both of them.

Nicole is very elegant, smart and talented.

Manuela said...

i love Nicole she is very beautiful. if it s true it s great

Sharon said...

It's totally 100% true, I saw them myself at about 4pm at Broadway Market. They just walked down, got some vegetables (well he did, like he was cooking them dinner) then went home. They weren't all over each other, weren't holding hands but she did grab his bum at one point.
I think he had been there earlier in day on his own too, getting flowers (a gift for her?!) in joggers, he was in jeans when I saw. That and the fact she's hardly known are why she's probably not mentioned.

Simone said...

Sharon, please don't come here starting rumors. That's not true. They'd make a cute couple, but making up stories like this is not cool.

Anonymous said...

Well, that was... oddly specific.

Simone said...

Stalkery specific. ;-)

Sharon said...

Ha ha ha! It's not a rumour. It's what I saw today. It's specific because it's true and was just sharing! Broadway Market isn't big, we were sat down eating so we saw him walk down then stop to buy the vegetables. And people at the stalls said about seeing earlier. I mean honestly we all sat and watched him-who wouldnt!!! Honestly, no rumour it's true. I can't say they are dating or just friends, as I say weren't all over each other or even holding hands and the bum grab could have been playing around with a friend but they seemed comfortable and well low key. As for recognising her I did as seen Shame and they were together, on her own probably not.

Simone said...

Well, keep on dreaming, I surely don't believe you. I've been to Broadway Market on a Saturday and it's too busy and crowded to just be there at a convenient time to see someone like Michael Fassbender... and to be oh so lucky to monitor his every movements during said visit.

Sharon-apparently a liar said...

What??? That was a minute ( because he stopped at stall to get vegetables) it was hardly hours of seeing him. He was with her. If you don't want to believe people when they actually SAW him then fair enough but why would anyone lie? To be honest no need to be rude and call me a liar.

Anonymous said...

Just a tip, the fewer details you give, the more likely people are to believe you.

Whether or not this is true (and to be honest, I really don't care), the specificity of your report made me uncomfortable. It was bordering on stalkery.

Sharon said...

Ok fair enough apologises for that, I was giving details as people were debating and was just saying what saw. It was only for a minute as I say and that was because he stopped. I have no idea what he was doing before or after. I also have no idea if they are a couple, easily just be friends.
I was also quite excited to see him! Sorry for stalkerish details.

Anonymous said...

The twitterer is simply a film aficionado who liked Shame, having mentioned seeing it on their twitter a couple weeks prior.

Cool sighting, Sharon! It's always fun to unexpectedly spot an actor here or there, and realize they're just ordinary civilians like all of us, and acting as such too! Yay for normalcy :).

Anonymous said...

Okay, if Michael and Nicole are really a couple I am squealing with delight. I think she's wonderful. <3

Anonymous said...

I'm not sure i consider Sharon's description stalkerish. I mean look at it this way, ...if you saw Michael Fassbender in the street even for 30 seconds , wouldn't you describe everything right from his hair to his shoes? I know i would! And that includes any bum grabbing that happens! .. .. so please don't get so judgemental and label someone a liar. It could be true.... but then again im just a Fassbender fan.

Manuela said...

sorry guys even we really like Nicole and fassy. i dont believe. plus her new project 42 in pre production study and im pretty sure she is busy as Michael is.
will see maybe (i dream) some foto can clear situation)))))

I'm not understanding why it's so difficult to believe that one person could spot the man at his nearby market. I spot celebrities all the time at mine. By the way, he was spotted by at least 3 or 4 others on twitter at the same place on the same day. I don't consider what Sharon said to have come across as stalkerish. She didn't follow him to the place. She was there and noticed who he was with and what he was doing, like any of us would've done.

All of us love the man. Some of us have blogs/tumblrs dedicated to him. I don't find what she said to be any more stalkerish than what many of us put on our blogs and tumblrs everyday (myself included).

I think it's completely plausible that Nicole could've been there with him. I just think that we need to hold off on jumping to any conclusions about their status/relationship. About that, we know nothing. If it's true (and according to another twitter person, it WAS Nicole who he was with) then I, for one, am glad that they have maintained, at the very least, a friendship since 'Shame' wrapped.

Manuela said...

no. no at all. of course it can be why not? they r normal people who needs eat sleep and etc. but just cant believe whats all

Sharon said...

I just told you what I saw and I was kind if excited so thanks for the more bigger picture views.
I know for fact that she was with him, that's all I know. The nature of their relationship I do not know.
I get you didn't see them so you don't know it for fact and everyone is allowed an opinion so you can say ok I don't believe it, that's my opinion.
What I found harsh and abit much was the people mistaking their opinion for fact and calling me a liar and saying I couldn't have seen him for a minute(perhaps he is like the Sun and I was meant to go blind after a few seconds??) and that to watch him from where I was was odd. I didn't follow him or stalk him, I just people watched him.

just so you know, Jane Eyre isn't out yet in France, and the difference with Drive is that Drive made it to the Cannes festival and not Shame, and Method was probably overlooked. The nominations here "
in France, we did not see him 4 times on screen but rather 3 times, his breakthrough in France isn't as wide. mk2 distribution is distributing the film and as you can see, The Descendants which is also distributed by mk2 is not nominated. The Artist is in the french film's section and had the chance to appear on screen massively a second time ...
However it's true that the César had many good nominated films but chose to reward the exceedingly rewarded Artist in spite of smaller but bolder productions, in that sense they weren't as bold as they should have been.

To Anon 4:51 - Thank you for being a voice of reason.

People need to lighten the hell up.

Simone said...

Some of you chose to believe what you want. Some enjoy being gullible. The topic at hand is the very reason why I don't encourage discussions about his private life. Fabrications are believed and spread by those who believe in them. Feel free to carry on this discussion somewhere else. I myself am bored by the person(s) who want this imaginary relationship to be real.

To Anon 7:31: they gave Césars to the very good "Appolonide" and "Exercice de l'état", though. Thanks for your interesting explanation, I understand a little better why Shame wasn't nominated for the best foreign movie, but I always want Michael to be recognized as he deserves to!
