A birthday break before it gets really crazy

As Michael Fassbender's birthday approaches, it's my hopes that he can enjoy the next five days or so at home relaxing as much as he can. His life will be completely mad with promotional obligations for Prometheus and preparing for work on The Counselor starting in Maymid-June, and  then immediately after that, 'Twelve Years'. Here are a few more images I found of Michael just as he was going inside the Grosvner House Hotel for the Empire awards Sunday night.

BTW, speaking of Michael's birthday, are you subscribed to the FNN newsletter? Well, I finally sent out a newsletter yesterday, and to my horror, I didn't realize it's been more than a couple of months. It's just that I have been so busy with work and school, and updating FF and twitter and tumblr. The newsletter is important to me because I write stuff there that I don't write for the blog. In any event, I informed the readers that for me to live up to my objective of the newsletter, which is to share first dibs of cool stuff there, I will unveil the Plan B gift in a short newsletter email, a full 12 hours before I post it on Fassinating Fassbender! Soooooo, if you're interested in knowing what it is before the wee hours of April 2nd, just sign up. And no, it's not an April Fool's joke, it will be information about the present idea I cooked up in my head months ago. Now that the Plan B package is in London, and Michael is in London, it's my hopes that he will have it very soon. Will he respond? I hope so, but is he obligated, nope. The best part of giving a gift is the joy of being able to give it to someone you like and respect, and not to look for anything in return - and just leave it at that.

Update: Thanks to 'anon',  here is an update from Ridley Scott himself about The Counselor at Empire Online:
"We start a week after Prometheus comes out," says Scott, who's been speaking to Empire about the dark-hued crime thriller McCarthy has penned. "It has a classic Cormac McCarthy darkness which makes you sick to the pit of your stomach. It's really frightening. It's saying: 'Don't play with the devil, don't step across the line, don't think you can do it and get away with it. You can't'."

Hell yeahs!!!!!!!

They will not film The Counselor in May. They start shooting mid-June according to Ridley Scott:

Thanks for the newsletter, I got it yesterday :)
I love these pictures; sorry Marcia but he's very sexy when he's smoking (but you're right, he should quit...)
I loved his speech, what he said about "male heroism", I found it funny and smart!

Awww, I saw him smoking those cancer sticks in front of my face and that was the ONLY second hand smoke I didn't mind inhaling (I even thought about picking up his discarded cigarette butts. LOL)...

Thanks for the correction Anon!

I don't think any of his health conscience fans like the smoking, just for health reasons, HIS health. But... he is ironically the only human who kinda make smoking look sexy.

Marylou, those cigarette butts would have been a funny souvenir. I've heard of fans collecting dirty silverware that celebrities used.

I'm just happy that even with the push-back he's still committed to '12 years'. Maybe the man will get some rest now, I doubt it! lol

I hope his character in the Counselor isnt going to die at the end, because i will be pissed.

^ I was thinking the same thing. I re-read Ridley's comments about how dark the film is, and if you know how the male protagonist ends up in 'No Country' and 'The Road'... well, let's just say, be prepared to be pissed off.

I got $5 that says that Fassy's character is going to get killed in a most brutal way.

You are right Simone, and exactly because of "The Road" and "No country", and what Ridley said i am also sure his character is going to die. i hate it when actors i love die in a movie (tough job if you are a fan of Sean Bean and Michael :))

As hard as it is to see our favorite actors 'die' in a movie, I think that's just the reality of their work and the particular project they take on. To be honest, if this character does not die, I would question the validity and realism of the film. There's no way that a goody-two shoes handsome wet behind the ears lawyer dude is going to temporarily prance into the drug world and come out unscathed. Drug dealers are nasty people, very nasty, and if I understand the nature of these criminals in this film, they are going to be ruthless and evil.

So, make sure you take kleenex to the theater with you, I reckon Fassy's character is going to get tore up real good.

ps. I think Sean Bean ONLY takes film roles in which his character dies. :-)

Yea,well i prepared myself from the moment this project was announced, that it's not going to end well...

It’s kind of a running joke that Michael’s characters seem to always die in his films. I was actually surprised at the end of Shame...knowing his track record. It’ll be interesting to hear more about The Counselor.

Off the top of my head, list of movies/television shows Michael's characters died in:

Inglorious Bastards, Eden Lake, The Devil's Whore, A most mysterious murder- Charles Bravo, Centurion (questionable), Murphy's Law, Hunger, Haywire, 300, Angel....

Sounds horrible, but I hope the death scene will be long like 300

Simone, your mention of the great and sexy Sean Bean reminds me of his awesome death scene in "The Lord of the Rings".

Re: "The Counselor" -- will June be enough time for Michael to work on his American accent? I'm making an assumption here--given the locale, tone and pedigree of this film, it makes sense for his character to sound American to the core.

Cheers.

I do not want Michael to die, most of his films, dies, which is really annoying.

And I love Sean Bean :)
