Will it be a Quiet Fassy Summer?

EDWIN EPPS, of whom much will be said during the remainder of this history, is a large, portly, heavybodied man with light hair, high cheek bones, and a Roman nose of extraordinary dimensions. He has blue eyes, a fair complexion, and is, as I should say, full six feet high. He has the sharp, inquisitive expression of a jockey. His manners are repulsive and coarse, and his language gives speedy and unequivocal evidence that he has never enjoyed the advantages of an education.

-posted at tumblr, the intro from the book 'Twelve Years a Slave'

Right now, Michael is in Louisiana bringing to life Edwin Epps. And when we last saw him, he was skinny as a stringbean with a Germanic nose. Just like how we accepted his portrayal of moody but very handsome Mr. Rochester in Jane Eyre, we'll accept him as a supermodel version of Edwin Epps. Yesterday, it got up to 105 degrees here in Michigan, which is just about 900 miles north of Louisiana, so I know it was messed up hot down there. I hope Michael is coping well with the heat. He doesn't like the 'constant fucking sunshine' of LA, so the constant fucking heat of the South may be a new 'pet hate' for him. ;-)

There's just a few more hours to vote in the current Prometheus poll, and it's great to see that the overwhelming majority of fans loved the film. I will try to see it for a third and final time at the theater this weekend.

At Hollywood.com, even before the latest Daniel Craig Jame Bond movie, 'Skyfall' comes out this fall, they are starting up new speculation about who will replace Daniel. Like I have stated before, I absolutely love Daniel as the current Bond and I'm in no rush to see him move on from that role, he's perfect. However, the article at the link is strongly favoring Michael, and if Christopher Nolan were to direct a Bond film with Fassy,... watch out, that could be a mindblowing awesome new direction for the franchise. We'll just continue to play the wait and see game. With Michael committed to the X-Men films, and possibly with a sequel to Prometheus, I don't know if he'll have the interest or the time to commit to another franchise.

Starting on Monday, July 2, I will start my summer course for my Master's program. It's 15 weeks squeezed into 7 1/2 weeks, so I'll be very busy and stressed out a bit in doing coursework for that class. But I'll still be around. It may be quiet on the Fassbender Front as he'll be filming TYAS for the next 8 weeks or so, but we'll keep ourselves updated on him as much as possible.

BTW, if you haven't noticed, the link to my Ireland pics have been posted up at Pinterest. Please check them out at your leisure.

I literally cannot WAIT for the first set pic of Michael as Epps.

Also, the only way if be on board with Michael entering a tired franchise like Bond is if Nolan was directing. But as you said, he's already part of two other popular franchises...

The wait will be long, without any pics... I'm sure he'll be an amazing Epps. I hope too that we'll soon have some news about the Venice festival. I think he's awaited there in the first days of the festival (August 29) but nothing has been confirmed yet...@Simone: good luck for your summer classes!

Isn't it rumored that he's going to be on the Venice jury this year?

^ I haven't heard anything about Michael being at Venice this year, let alone on the jury. But if he is, that's wonderful. I'll keep listening out for confirmation!

I am reading TYAS right now. I have not gotten to the Epps part, so I had no idea he is supposed to be heavier. I did notice that while he was on the Today Show the week Prometheus debuted in the U.S. that he looked heavier. So he may be putting on weight for that but maybe they will also use a fat suit. SO…

Quiet Fassy Summer! NOOOOOOOOOOOOO!

I did hear in an interview he said when he was a kid he did the whole Bond thing like in the opening credits. Or something like that. It was a while ago, so I don't remember exactly what he said. It would be a shame if he would not do it. I think he has the potential to surpass Connery, who I think is the best Bond. Craig is okay. He is just the right amount of ruthless but he is not debonair. Michael as Bond would be such a charmer and he is ruthless as hell. He can also melt panties. Michael is the best combination out there. All others are Meh.

I think Daniel Craig is the best Bond since Sean Connery, why they want replace him? He made just 3 films as James Bond, is it bc he is getting "old"?

LOL! i got so upset when i read about Craig that i didn't see the link to the trailler, it's very good actually but i'm still a Craig Bond girl, thanks Simone!

I'm sooo excited for Michael to be playing Epps! I've been having Fassy withdrawals, so I can't last a summer without Fassy.

@Simone: I meant in Venice for the Your Film Festival with You Tube. As he's in the jury and the short films will be shown at the beginning of the Venice festival, I think he'll be there (?)

No Michael as Bond please. he can do much much better. besides, if he will do Bond, it will tie him to the franchise for a long time, and i see the dreaded typecasting happening.

As for Epps, i am sure he will be very very good, regardless of weight.(although i am sure that when the movie will come out, we will hear bitching about his accent and weight).

I realize not all Fassy fans are fans of the James Bond franchise. Believe me, until Pierce Brosnan and Daniel Craig came on board, that's when I really started to take interest in Bond. sure, I've seen many films in the past, esp with Sean Connery and Roger Moore, but Brosnan and Craig brought a different mood to the franchise that wasn't there before.

Also note that while being Bond can require an actor to be committed for several or more films, most of the actors, especially Craig, have been able to work on other cool projects between Bond films. If the job were presented to Michael, I'm sure he would carefully review his options and if he took it, a contract will be to his benefit financially as well as allowing him the freedom to do other things.

In regards to people possibly bitching about his weight and accent in TYAS, yeah, I'm bracing for that too. It's as if the people who criticize him are talented enough to do the work themselves. He's a human actor, not an alien chameleon. :)

Oh, dont get me wrong, Simone, i love Bond movies (only with Connery and Craig),and i think Daniel craig is doing very good in the role. it's just that i dont think Bond is worthy of Michael's talent (before everyone jumps on me :) i love Daniel Craig. he is one of my favorie actors, ever since i saw him in the "Ice House" many years ago, and i remember i was upset when i heard he is going to be Bond, for the same reason). and none of Craig's other movies was successful as Bond.
