W Photoshoot Theme: Dark Alley Almost Sex

Why in the HELL is this not in the magazine?
Here are big, crisp, a clear bluey images from the August W magazine featuring Michael Fassbender and Charlize Theron. Now that we can see them better, are your opinions still the same? Because of ample display of man flesh, (ie. Fassbender's torso, ass, biceps, etc.), there's no way in hell I'm not buying this magazine. So there! And as a bonus, the interview has been released too. Updated: As per 'unknown's' comment, the top photo I just added, I missed if the first time. Apparently, this is an outtake and NOT featured in the magazine. An innocent question I have is, why the fuck not? He looks like 'Fassy Jesus' in this picture... just look at his torso, so nice, long, and lean... and strong, and soft, with just the right amount of light body hair, and the vein... ok I'll stop, I'm just preachin' to the choir really.

Here is the beginning of the article, to read it in its entirety, click here.

In Ridley Scott’s Prometheus, Charlize Theron and Michael Fassbender play siblings of the future: Fassbender is a highly advanced robot named David, a kind of favorite son to the father of Theron’s character, Meredith Vickers. While Vickers overcompensates for her insecurities by being bossy, David is smooth and brilliantly manipulative. Their rivalry reveals each other’s central flaw—Vickers is too emotional and David too cerebral—but they share the goal of supremacy on their own terms. This essentially human conflict between the heart and the head underscores the larger themes of the film: science versus religion; reason versus emotion; the enticement of the unknown versus the evil that lurks within. Add a great many scary creatures that resemble a mash-up of male and female genitals and you have a grand existential battle amid all the sci-fi gore.

When not in character, though, Fassbender and Theron are anything but combative. Their friendship began at the rehearsals for Prometheus last year and grew during filming and throughout the awards season, when both were robbed by the Academy for their work in previous films: Fassbender’s haunting performance in Shame and Theron’s fascinating work in Young Adult were, apparently, too dark and complicated for the Oscars. “I would like to see a romantic comedy between those two characters,” Theron said at our shoot, which took place at an abandoned factory in Red Hook, Brooklyn. Although she was joking, Theron may be on to something—she and Fassbender have a natural chemistry that could make them the next great screen couple. They may not be romantically involved in real life, but they jab, they admire, they spark in ways that could seduce the world.

I still don't like the pics, and the interview is fluff more than anything else.

I’m not going to lie, I totally blushed when looking at these photos! I felt like I walked in on two people about to get it on - if that was the point of the photo shoot, then I think W hit the nail on the head!

Excuse me whilst I go take a cold shower... ;-)

I've been a fan of this blog for a little over a year. I truly enjoy your insight, but I this photo shoot is being over analyzed. It's just for fun, he has to appeal to a wide array of people and W Magazine is not ground breaking stuff. This was certainly done a long time ago b/c MF has a full beard. Just let be what's supposed to be, fun and sexy.

*just let it be. . .

We're all entitled to our opinion. Some people don't like it, some do. What's just for fun to some may be overdone and stupid to others. I'm just tired of the half naked shoots. I hope he's fully clothed for the next couple shoots. Just my opinion.

I still don't like it. Cold and I don't feel the chemistry they supposed to have. I was hoping that, after reading the 'interview', it would be clear why the photoshoot has this theme....but nope. Off course, Simone, you will buy the magazine because you want your archive accurate. To me this pics and interview are a dissapointment. I longed for pics with the X-factor. And I understand that for some of us they are, but to me they are not. But my day will come, no doubt about that!

Anons, please be aware that people are entitled to their opinions, especially the persons who take the time to use their names in stating such opinions. Some don't like them, some think they're ok, others think they are just an artistic expression... I fall in the latter category.

FF apparently finds these images ok enough to post, and surely many readers will be buying this magazine.

I agree Hupsakeek, the interview was a little weak. I also think that 'the powers that be' wanted to play up the photogenic friendship of Michael and Charlize. Can you imagine the gossip chit-chat and magazine covers they would covet if they were really a couple?

Yeah. I think Tom/Katie/Suri would be glad if Michael and Charlize were a couple :D.
I find it funny that you feel the chemistry between them watching the pics and vid on promoting Prometheus, but when they have to play it for a photoshoot or film that chemistry isn't there. (That's my opinion)

Just for the record, I don't pick up a chemistry between them. But frankly, there's much more chemistry than the GQ one with that naked faceless female.

Does it annoy anyone that Charlize doesn't look like Charlize in these pictures?

If you want a laugh, go to Dlisted and read what they have to say about this photoshoot.

Be warned, MD lovingly refers to Michael as 'Assbender'.

And this comment was the best of the lot:

This all looks a bit too post-apocalyptic for my taste, like Mad Max sex.

You're missing one photo. Go to wmagazine.tumblr.com for an outtake from the shoot (in really hi resolution). It's actually the best shot of them all and it's kind of ridiculous they left it out of the actual magazine.

^ Thanks unknown. That's seriously messed up they left it out of the magazine. Shit, this should have been on the cover. Shit, Fassy should have posed like this on the cover. Shit, Fassy should have been on the cover and the photoshoot all by his damn self.

It's a much better shot of his body. The other one is awkward. And he and Charlize have more chemistry in this shot.

Simone, I wasn't disagreeing or agreeing with anyone about the article. Just hoping that the conversation would go back to being light and fun like the blog always is.

Natasha is my name.

In my opinion the photo editor played a little too much with Photoshop. Some of them especially the two above the cover they look like they are completely computer-generated.
