Well, the first two critics awards of the season did not fare well for Michael or 12 Years a Slave. I am sensing that the critics are going to go out of their way to be different, go against the grain, and honor films that may not get the recognition later in the season. Bias aside, Michael Fassbender put on the bravest performance this year, yet again, for any actor in his nomination category, and 12 Years a Slave is a hard film to watch about the most brutal and inhumane times in American history, but it's a story that must be told and understood. Not everyone is embracing it and that's a problem that they'll have to look deeper into their soul about.
There is nothing new on Michael lately while he's still in New Zealand filming 'Slow West'. And I reckon that due to a particular intrusive photo that was taken of him, there's now probably an embargo on set photos now. I don't blame him, his management, or the production company for that decision. I believe Michael should have a short break after filming Slow West before filming begins for 'MacBeth'. So it's my hopes he makes it back home to enjoy the holidays in peace and quiet.
