12 Years a Slave Won 3 Oscars & Best Picture! (updated)

Congratulations to Steve McQueen and Brad Pitt for winning the Best Picture Oscar for 12 Years a Slave. The film was nominated for 9 Oscars, and won 3: Best Picture, Best Adapted Screenplay, and Supporting Actress. It should have won more, especially for the impressive work that both  Chiwetel Ejiofor and Michael Fassbender did, but in the end, looking at the larger picture, their brilliant worked helped this film stand out as THE BEST MOTION PICTURE ACHIEVEMENT OF 2013!

the Best Supporting Actress - so happy Lupita won!

And John Ridley, Best Adapted Screenplay!

  1. Just got to congratulate/chat up Fassy outside the men's room--the unsung hero of the best picture of 2013.

Yes Congratulations to this TEAM. These awards were way too long may I add. I can't believe I cried when 12 Years won. I did not expect to behave like that.

I believe that Chiwetel and Michael's work was sacrificed in order for 12YAS to come out on top. These two fine actors will have their moment again.

This is what I called a goood monday morning! Didn't see any of it, because of the time difference but check everything out while having breakfast. I will wear my 'keep calm and put Fassbender on' shirt to work.

Very happy for Steve. A real artist. And Michael will have more opportunities, guaranteed. I think it's important for Lupita to have won for this role--slavery, rape, degradation. She creates a strong role model for other women and artists. Tell these stories to draw strength from them and learn from them.

A well deserved award for the brilliant artwork. Well chosen indeed.

I wonder if MF's mom chatted up Kevin Spacey.
