TGIF 1114

Apparently for X-Men: Apocalypse, there's going to be a slash plot story. Sorry, it won't be Magneto/Professor X, but instead it will be Magneto/Mystique love angle "front and center". I don't know why this curve ball is being thrown but it doesn't seem like the natural progress for the franchise. I've never read the X-men comics, so maybe there is a hint of a romance between them at one point. But in all the movies thus far, even the ones from the early 2000s, there has always been like a father/daughter type of relationship, or at the very least, Magneto was a mentor to Mystique, but these sexytimes talk is kinda weird. But we'll see how this progresses. I personally would have preferred Magneto/Prof X, but that wouldn't be a PG13 action film, it'll be something else, and I think I'm probably the only one who would go to see it. Maybe this is Bryan Singer's way of killing all those tumblr slash fantasies and to add an element of romance between the two highest profile characters in the X-Men universe to get mo monay! With Michael Fassbender being the sexy mean-wicked mutant leader, and the crazy fanbase of Jennifer Lawrence as the gorgeous blue chameleon mutant, this may be a plot to get more butts in the seats of an already successful franchise. I'm not complaining, I will accept Michael Fassbender in any type of lovey dovey situation as long as we get to see him in various stages of having that helmet off, if you catch my drift.

Meanwhile, over at FF Facebook, we are developing a timeline of Michael Fassbender's life and career that goes back to 1977. You'll be able to merely click on a date in that timeline and read all publicly known information about him that occurred that year. You're welcome. This project will be an ongoing project between me, Vera, and Stephanie as we work to capture not only his filmography, but TV shows, TV guest appearances, red carpet events, award nominations, and print interviews/magazine cover stories. Basically, the highest highlights of each year of his awesome career!

As far I know about the comics, Mystique was always an independent character. I don't remember any romantic relationship between her and Erik; It sounds kinda strange, but, in the other hand, I think Singer wants to take the star power of both Michael and Jeniffer and brings more viewers to this movie. But I really hope that this don't be true. I am a tumblr slash fan myself, and since DOFP, things gone not so good to my slash feelings... xD ( And this rumour about Magneto/Mystique didn't please anyone on tumblr, that's for sure... >_>) That said, I'm more interested in Assassin's Creed and Prometheus 2. =P

@Takhesis Thanks for confirming my suspicions. I too think that X-Men is going all HungerGamish in giving Jennifer Lawrence a love story in X-Men. It's a cheap shot, but in a way, when it comes to money, who else better to slash up than Michael Fassbender and Jennifer Lawrence.

We'll see how this turns out.

BWell I don't know why people are surprised about this. They slept together in First Class. The scene leads one to believe that it is Raven's first time. And in DOFP the scene in the subway clearly shows that they had been lovers.

Maybe there is just a hint. But no one should be shocked about this. Is it true to the source material? No but since when is Hollywood true to the original source. I mean look how lame Noah turned out. I eventually saw it and am really glad I did not waste my money going to the theatre to watch it. It was totally wrong from what I remember from my Sunday School days. I laughed during some of the scenes.

Martha, Magneto did not sleep with Mystique in First Class. She tried to seduce him, he kissed her and sent her on her way where she then went to give Charles a piece of her mind about not hiding who she is anymore.

This is a new plot twist to sell more tickets for Apocalypse and utilize the two most popular and attractive characters.

Even as a Cherik shipper myself, it wouldn't bother me. I consider Cherik-Raven an OT3 and DOFP played their dynamics well enough because any kind of romance/sexual tension between or among them is SUBTLE. But to do it 'front-and-center' might "dilute" it for me. But I love what Singer has done with XMFC and DOFP so I will look forward to Apocalypse still. I read somewhere that this is the third arc to Charles and Erik's "love story" so...I don't know, conflicting sources. Personally, as long as Fassy gets to be awesome and complex as Magneto FOREMOST then I am not complaining. It's always good to have reservations before a film comes out, so I basically won't be absolutely for or against Magneto/Mystique being the "IT" couple as long as the writing and the actors themselves can carry that extra weight.

Also, Mystique is bisexual in the comics. She's a shape-shifter and she used to be in a long-time relationship with a mutant woman named Destiny.

Is it about the characters or the actors? These are the two most high-profile actors in the franchise. It feels like a simple play for money. Again.
