TGIF 8.18.17

Michael by Bruce Weber 2016

It's been an embarrassingly sad week being an American. Thankfully, I experienced two highlights this week: I bought a copy of the Alien: Covenant Blu-ray on Tuesday, and I made a re-commitment to meditate daily after I get home from work. Let's face it, Michael Fassbender can only bring so much joy into a Fassinator's life. He's human and has his own things to deal with, so we can't always rely on him as a release from the real world. As an example, on Wednesday, when every other post on my twitter feed was about the fuckery going on in the country, especially the double dose of what the fuckery out of DC, I tweeted a lot of Michael Fassbender images that day to balance the negativity - and as a treat to my followers to give them a break from the negative news. I can't stress enough the restorative powers of smiling Fassy images, but again, he's only human and can only alleviate so much stress. Enter, meditation. If you're interested in chilling out your mind, download the Insight Timer, a free meditation app that I have been using for about 3 years. If you want an invite from me, just send me an email and if it's mutually agree, we can friend each other. As a Buddhist, I embrace the benefits of regular meditation, but unfortunately, especially since I've been living in California, I just haven't had the time, or just forget to meditate, and because of this, I'm feeling the effects of not giving myself time to meditate. I also need to get back into a yoga class, especially after dropping nearly $200 at Athleta recently, on YOGA clothes... but I digress.

During these strange days, many of us look to our favorite artists for escapism. And what better way to escape from the Twilight Zone of USA 2017 than watching a movie with two Fassies, on a dark planet, and alien monster things ripping humans apart for fun?
